50th Anniversary Remake?

What's the Story?

In 1977, I was a student at the University of Maine at Orono. My major was Elementary Education, and as a major assignment I was required to write, illustrate and bind a children's book. Lucy and Her Magic Boots was the creation of a 21-year-old college student. Lucy has stayed a part of my teaching career since that semester. Every class I taught has heard her story. And since retiring in 2015 and beginning to tutor, each child I worked with also enjoyed reading about Lucy and the boots that had an adventurous and magical personality!

In the spring of 2026, Lucy came back to life in the form of Book 1 of a new series:

Lucy and Her Boots Adventures. So it just seemed appropriate to bring the original story back for a 50th-year celebration!

The original hand-made book cover from 1977!

I hope you enjoy the original story.

Warmly,

Barbara Warner Ruffing
